Highland Court Goes Hollywood

January 27, 2010 · Leave a Comment

The style of Hollywood’s Golden Age endures at HIGHLAND COURT® with our interpretation of both masculine and feminine suiting fabrics and textures featuring the trend-setting styles of the early 20th century in our own Hollywood Collection. Rich, shimmering fabrics are mixed with tailored patterns to evoke memories of old Hollywood grandeur while maintaining modern sensibility for a versatile selection of designs.

The five-book color set begins with Brown Derby, highlighting rich chocolate hues.  Beautiful bisque, crystal and champagne shades of white punctuate the Coconut Grove color book, while black and red lacquer are featured in Film Noir.   Timeless, neutral grays comprise the aptly titled Silver Screen and Blue Room finishes the collection nicely with pale shades of aqua.

Luxurious linen velvet animal skins, soft silks and intricate fretwork mingle with tailored stripes and plush textures for an all-around glamorous selection of fabrics for the sophisticated home.

Inspiration from Walt Disney

December 21, 2009 · Leave a Comment

When I first heard about the Walt Disney Signature wallpaper book from York I immediately thought it would be filled with juvenile colors and patterns. That thought could not be further from the truth. The sophisticated designs are inspired by the movie Fantasia. All of the patterns have a definite art deco genesis. The scale and coloration are decidedly contemporary. This is a ‘must see’ book

Back to the Blog!!!

December 1, 2009 · Leave a Comment

It has been over a month since my last post. As many of you know, Bill and I were in an auto accident last spring. I’ve been trying to ‘rehab’ my knee since the accident. Unfortunately, it was beyond rehab. Soooooooooo on the 26th of October it was into surgery. I’m doing well…and ready to hit the ground…if not running at least walking.

During the last month there have been some fabulous post opportunities. I am most excited about the collaboration between Robert Allen and Sherwin Williams. What a great idea!!!!

African, Aboriginal and Native American influences are converging to create a new tribal style with a drumbeat all its own. The colors are rich and earthy, with a hint of mystery. The Perfect Chair for Pet Owners

September 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

decameronIn a recent trade periodical there was an article on Brazilian textile design. The featured item is from a large Brazilian design firm…Decameron Design. It is manufactured using materials salvaged from big manufacturers. The idea was to enable a workforce of poor artisans to access the design market. The co-operative made the pure cotton fibers by hand, tying in 15 different colors.

We have a chocolate labrador. Rogan is a wonderful dog…but he sheds 12 months a year. I think this chair is just what I need to ‘hide’ the dog hair.

Decameron’s Product page is full of whimsy. Be sure to check out the peep show wallpaper.
